Variable Temperature Cleaning System
This variable-temperature cleaning system uses perchloroethylene at temperatures up to 230° F. The unit completely evacuates air before introducing the solvent into the chamber, enabling operation at temperatures below the solvent’s normal boiling point. The cleaning is performed under vacuum to ensure thorough coverage of all internal surfaces. Operating with a known effective solvent is wise, and when parts require lower temperatures, this vacuum system can be lowered to 150° F.
The unit generally uses perchloroethylene at 200° F. The unit replaced an open-top vapor degreaser that cleaned a dozen transmissions over 8 hours. The 12 transmissions are now loaded all at once and cleaned in a half-hour cycle.
