Vacuum Drying Cleaning Systems
This unit cleans thermo discs that tend to coalesce and stick together when covered with heat-treating oils. Trichloroethylene is used to degrease the oil, and when a vacuum is applied, the solvent is flashed from the discs and recovered for reuse. When opened, the chamber has less than 25 PPM of TCE remaining in the unit. The TCE in the lid area has been measured at less than 5 PPM, well within OSHA’s requirement for worker exposure in the workplace.
This system uses rotation since it is a vapor degreasing unit. We usually recommend soaking with the VCN process and ultrasonics, where appropriate, to prevent damage; however, these parts are very sturdy, and vapor cleaning was sufficient.
When parts can collect solvent in pockets, rotation systems are available to address this. Rotating parts before drying removes solvent from the pockets, ensuring complete vacuum drying. The system pictured has 4 separate rotation chambers for small lots.
